First Grade: September Lesson 1
Objectives:
- Getting to know each other and feel at ease.
- Getting to know the space and feel comfortable in it.
- Establish some class rules.
- Introduce Covid hygiene related vocab.
- Recall previous knowledge ( Present simple questions and answers, colors, numbers).
- Set off on our year on a positive note.
1. Teacher and student introductions: Circle Routine

2. Name tag crafts:
Kids decorate name tags
3. Class rules
Teacher explains covid-19 rules and protocol.
Class rules (good choices and bad choices flashcards) students must decide which cards are good or bad.
4. Introduce new words : soap, mat, mask, hands, wash, wipe, water.
5. Present simple questions and answers
What did you do over summer? tell me two things.
6. Play “Find the color”
Teacher starts by saying “Find something blue".
Student stands up, goes to something blue, touches/points at it and says “blue (something)“ and goes back to her/his place. Teacher asks next student to find another color and so on. Get everyone to have at least one go.
